This post was written by “Julie,” one of the Park/School owners. She’s a fierce advocate for Longhouse Education. She is the bookkeeper and manager of the RV Park and handles many details. We can see her peering at the school from her office or porch!

Yesterday the students moved back into their Lodge. Thanks to Max and his crew for helping them do the move in the blink of an eye.

Today is his final meeting with the kids. He wants to introduce them to the Landscaper we hired to create a “second growth forest” including and beyond the perimeter of the RV Park. He also wants to introduce them to the neighbors on three sides of us who decided to share many acres of their properties to enjoy mutual access to the new forest and the paths we are building.

I didn’t know this, but all the forests in the Northeast are actually second-growths. There is one and only one patch of the primeval forest—and it’s the Thain Family Forest, a section of the Bronx Botanical Garden! Who would imagine: in the Bronx!

The Longhouse kids were back to meeting at 5:45am this morning for Track. Come on! A little reality check here, please? First and second graders running laps and having fun!? !Then they did the Perimeter Walk to the rising sun. Finally, into the now heated waters of the Pool they jumped, and more laps!!! Thanks to our Mom Tunas for supervising! (And no more stinky children and Lolita!)
